facial swelling

facial swelling

have you noticed swelling in your cheek or near your ear? It could be related to parotitis — inflammation of the parotid gland, one of the major salivary glands located in front of and below your ear.

🔎 Common signs include:

Swelling on one or both sides of the face near the ears

Pain or tenderness around the cheek and jaw

Pain that worsens while eating

Fever or redness in some cases

Unpleasant taste or pus in the mouth in some cases

⚠️ Don't ignore painful or persistent swelling. Parotid swelling can result from infection, a blocked salivary duct, or other conditions, so proper medical evaluation is important.

Seek urgent medical attention if you develop rapidly increasing swelling or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
