Adenoid Face
Adenoid Face: Could Your Child’s Breathing Be Affecting Their Facial Growth?
Enlarged adenoids can make it difficult for children to breathe through their nose, leading to persistent mouth breathing. Over time, chronic mouth breathing may be associated with changes in facial growth and appearance, sometimes referred to as “adenoid facies.”
Look out for signs such as:
• Persistent mouth breathing
• Nasal blockage or a stuffy nose
• Snoring or restless sleep
• Sleeping with the mouth open
• A nasal-sounding voice
• Frequent throat or ear problems
If your child regularly breathes through their mouth or snores, an ENT evaluation can help identify whether enlarged adenoids or another nasal problem is contributing.
Early evaluation can help protect healthy breathing, sleep, and development.
